Steal a Seed Plant Varieties: Documented Plants & Attributes

A bounded reference to plant varieties documented in recorded Steal a Seed gameplay, with observed cash rates, rarity notes, and how to tell varieties apart from sizes and mutations.

In Steal a Seed, a plant variety is the base plant you grow from a stolen seed — a cucumber, pumpkin, chili, cactus, and so on. Variety is only one of three attributes: the game's official listing separately advertises "unique sizes" and "incredible mutations" as distinct systems, so a giant or mutated plant is still the same base variety underneath. Steal your seeds, plant them, and the grown variety earns cash over time.

One important caveat up front: there is no complete official plant catalogue, and this reference covers the varieties documented in recorded gameplay plus the systems the official listing confirms. Treat it as an identification starting point, not an exhaustive list.

Plant varieties documented in gameplay

The table below reflects what was observed in recorded play, including cash-per-second figures and rarity labels shown at the time. These are observations, not a fixed universal stats table.

PlantObserved notesRarity observed
CucumberGiant ("billion pound") version grown in the first zone; about 25 seconds to grow as a common; earned $61 a secondCommon
PumpkinUnusual appearance ("pumpkins don't look like that"); earned $91 a second, outperforming some later-zone plantsCommon
Chili"Giant chili"; earned about $12 a secondNot stated
TomatoLow earner ($3)Not stated
Cactus ("Cactus Dad")Earned 922 a secondMythic
Big PeppaFlame attribute noted; earned 4K a secondNot stated
PeashooterPresent as a grown plant varietyNot stated
Mini cornEarned less than other plants despite being described as OP as a seedNot stated
Baby chomperSmall variant observed; low performanceNot stated
Fly trapEarned 55k a secondNot stated
Carrot ("Bozo carrot guy")Found in the second zone (~900 recommended speed)Not stated

Does rarity predict earnings?

The limited evidence doesn't establish that it does. In the recorded footage, Cactus Dad was explicitly called a mythic at 922 a second — but a common-observed pumpkin earned $91 a second, far outpacing a giant chili at roughly $12 a second. Low-labeled plants out-earned expectations in context, so don't assume a rarity label reliably tells you a plant's income. The footage also doesn't document the full tier system or any rarity color code, so be cautious of unverified tier lists.

Telling variety, size, and mutation apart

Sizes and mutations are layers on a base variety, not separate varieties. The footage makes this clear: the same cucumber appears as a "giant billion pound" version and a "big boy" seed from a later zone; one plant spawned with a "Venom mutation" (115k a second); and Big Peppa carried a "Flame" attribute. The official listing treats sizes and mutations as separate features from rare plant varieties. When identifying a plant, ask three questions: what is the base variety, is there a size modifier, and is there a mutation on top?

Seed-to-plant pairings: treat them as unverified

No verified one-to-one mapping from each seed to the plant it grows exists. Seed names known from code rewards and gameplay — Prime Tree Seed, Thorn Seed, Watermelon Seed, Wastelord Seed, Ice Fluff seed — are inputs, and their grown outcomes are not documented with attributes. Footage shows named seeds being planted and specific plants resulting, but not systematically enough to confirm pairings. For the input side, check seed identities on the dedicated seeds reference.

From identification to growing

This page is an identification reference only. Once you've identified a variety, cultivation is covered in the guide on how to grow plants from seeds, size behavior has its own coverage, and mutation behavior has a separate reference. For rare outcomes specifically, learn how rare plants are obtained rather than relying on this catalogue. And because this reference reflects varieties documented in one gameplay recording plus the official listing's confirmed systems, recheck here when plants are added or changed — names and attributes can shift between updates.
