Steal a Seed Planters: Capacity and Planting Space Reference
What a planter holds in Steal a Seed, how occupied planters can be reused, and where planters fit in the grow-and-claim loop.
In Steal a Seed, planters are your planting capacity. Each planter holds one planted seed and its resulting plant, so the number of planters you have determines how many seeds you can grow at the same time. A planter is not available for new income until a grown plant is claimed into it — and once claimed, that plant stays in its planter and generates cash over time, with earnings varying by the plant's size, rarity, and mutations. More planters mean more simultaneous growing space, and keeping every planter working is generally better than leaving planting space unused.
What a planter holds
- One planted seed and the plant it grows into per planter.
- Cash income once the plant is claimed into the planter, scaled by size, rarity, and mutations.
Planting in an occupied planter
An occupied planter can still be used. If you plant a new seed in a planter that already holds a plant, the existing plant is replaced and moved into your storage. Check the current plant's income before swapping it out — replacing plants without checking is a common beginner mistake, since planting a new seed can quietly replace a better earner.
Where planters fit in the game loop
Planters sit at the claim stage of the core loop: steal a seed, plant it, collect cash, train Speed or unlock planters, then raid a harder area. Growing and claiming are separate steps — seeds are planted in the Planting Area and grow on a timer, but after the plant appears you must pick it up and place it in a planter before it begins generating cash. The official game description mentions treadmill upgrades and unlocking more planters together in its progression list, while recorded gameplay shows plot unlocks as direct cash purchases. No mechanical dependency between the two is confirmed.
Note that planting-system details can change with game updates, so recheck planter behavior in-game if something here stops matching what you see.
